Hi AppGameKit folks.

We're having a little fun on itch.io and running our first game jam there with more to come.

A few small prizes, but it's mainly about having a good time and showing everyone what you can do with AppGameKit Studio and Classic (all Tiers).

You can join the party or review past jams by visiting the AppGameKit Official Jam HQ on itch.io.

Enjoy and I hope to see a lot of you there.

I started using AppGameKit again after about a decade to take part in the AppGameKit Space Jam.

I have to say it was a treat to use and in many ways better than the larger game dev platforms.

I'm pretty happy with how my entry turned out:

the AGK SPACE Jam is complete.

i've got a shiny new badge (1st Jam win ever ), i've increased my meager 3D skillset a bit, and my JimJams collection is now complete.

thanks Dave. good old school fun!

meanwhile, Scab's updated his entry since; give it a go if you haven't already, along with the others.

and, check out DewarInveserion's would-be entry Project Jupiter that didn't quite make it into the pool.

Nice effort, all!

Dave's advised "a couple of weeks" until we see the 3rd Official AppGameKit Jam so stay tuned and hope to Jam alongside more of you soon!

The Jam begins in almost a month and lasts for THREE so there is plenty of time to decide which of your projects deserves to see the light of day and FINISH IT!

I am curious - did anybody enter the Lv. 99 Game Jam ie the one Blink0k linked to? I registered with itch.io for first time just to see what it is all about given the prize(was under no illusion I am no where near the level it takes for any Jam and was pretty much met with confirmation the same day), was very interesting to read the discord comments. The one thing I have not been able to work out - how is the public vote kept fair? What I am getting at is what is to stop someone getting all their mates to rate - and in their favor? What if the group sponsoring where to do that and simply had a fairly high number of folks tied to them who are pro's to make entries that are likely to place the top prizes? They would therefore recoup what they have put up in prize money, while retaining the right of first offer of publication of every entrant, seems like a trap of sorts to me!

how is the public vote kept fair?

it's not. when it comes to $$ comps, without any scrutiny over the voting/access to who voted, how, how long those profiles have been active, etc, it's treacherous and there have been issues in the past.

then it depends on the hosts and their reputation. from that jam's overview:
The organizers will monitor voting activities for anomalies and cheating, and retain the right to disqualify entries if they detect suspicious activity.

but, itch.io doesn't have many tools to help against rigged public voting. the Rating Queue is about the only thing that i can think of.

all of this is why we MODs judged the [TD] comp since $$ was involved.

finally, back on topic, there is less than a week until the Finish It! deadline. i don't want to have the only entry so get crackin'!

meanwhile, deleted ur "oops" post
