I find that SetSpriteColor works pretty well and would be handy if pure white(255,255,255) could be immune.

I am using a grey scale image and would find this really useful if it could be done.

Any idea about a workaround?

Use 2 sprites. Create an image for altering the color and one containing the white parts. Put the color image in a sprite and the white image in a sprite on top.
