Hi @ all

Here's a small demo of the game logic engine I'm currently writing.

The game is more or less based on "connect 4" but with a twist.
You can set your player color on every square that has a "!".
When you create a line of 4 to 7 blocks of the same color you
get points for it and the lines disappear. Diagonal lines give
more points.

There're some extras too like bombs, waterbombs, coins and "play two rounds".

Currently you play against a computer AI. After you set the last peace
on the playfield it just resets.

There's no menu, info or other stuff, just the game engine itself which
creates a random level everytime you play. The graphics are placeholders for testing.

So this is just a small test for you to play with.

If you've any idea for the design just let me know (I'm really bad at
drawing nice graphics)

Have fun with it.

Here's a screenshot of it:

And here's the download (~7MB):

( It takes a few seconds until it starts after running it )

Plays great! No bugs, and an okay experience for such a basic little game.

Good demo Hubdule!

My question, how did you pack it into one .exe?!? me want

Maybe the ! 's should have directional arrows on them. I keep forgetting who moved what way, but maybe that's intentional from your side?

"

Do you mean your really good at drawing ugly graphics? atleast your good at something Actually I thought the graphics were great for placeholder sprites, or "programmers graphics" as the game designers and artists like to snot out at you.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

@Impetus73: I use this tool here to pack everything into one file:
http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2256

It creates a virtual filesystem in memory and extract all data to it. No need for temp files. Works great with AGK.

Currently I haven't decided to include directional arrows

Hubdule, if you can toss the sprite images here I'd like to have a go at upgrading them, I might even toss in a few backgrounds. and When you decide on a Name I might make a logo and title screen.

Cheers!

P.S. From the screenshot I'm guessing 48x48 sprites and the game itself is on a 1024x768 background. right? Also, is the bomb animation just a 2 frame sprite?

EDIT: Went ahead and made a mock-up with some possible new sprites..

Let me know what you think..

Hi David,

absolutly beautiful graphics/sprites!!! I've sent you an email with more details about the game/graphics.

(Currently I just use 2 images for the animations but there could be easily more, just placeholders at the moment )

I got the email, now let's have some fun!!

Cheers!

@Hubdule, I hope your graphics know what you've let them in for. David has just rolled his sleeves up and is about to go postal on them!!

I've to say that David is doing such a wonderful job on the new graphics! It'll be really beautiful. I'll post more info about it as soon as we've made some more progress on this game.

Lovely stuff! Try your game on an iPhone/Bada to see how small those tiles are on a small form factor. If they are too small to press by a finger, maybe detect the device resolution and create the game with a smaller grid (so a finger can press the tile without a mistake). It will certainly increase your market with this feature

That's what I'm already doing The playfield on Windows, Mac and IPad is 15x15 tiles. On IPod touch and mobile devices 10x10. The tiles are bigger there and it's fun to play it I had a problem with the bada player and send you the whole project already When sending the game to my Bada phone (Samsung Wave II S8530) the player crashes at 100%. Look through your emails and you'll find it.
