Is it still possible to make money selling your games in the App store, or has that boat sailed because of insane competition?

It's still possible but you need to make sure your game is unique and that you get people interested. Putting it up there without any promoting it won't get it sold.

Thanks,

How do I promote it: advertising?

Good games still make a lot of $, but the best games are those made but large pro teams.

In the beginning, it seemed that the days of the bedroom programmer were back, but these days the level of quality games on the market are insane.

For a start I would say that having GREAT graphics and making your app $0.99 is a good start. unique gameplay and great promotion & marketing are very important too.

You can make money, I have a few apps on the app store and mac app store. I make between 250-500 per month.

Not much, but it pays for my StarBucks coffees while playing with this stuff

You know that new Kindle Fire that was released? That's a platform I'm targeting. The device is going to sell like crazy. So let's hope that Lee has Android ready for us before then. I would like to get my app onto it right away.

Of course is possible, or we wasn't here to use AppGameKit, ehehe.
I bought a Mac Mini with my first game (Street Karate Fighter).
And now i 'm going to release my second game.

Yes is hard, but believe in yourself and go on!!!

It's early days yet for super-star AppGameKit apps on the App Store, but I am sure it will happen. You need to produce a steady stream of good cross-marketed apps on the App Store to succeed but it's very possible to make your mark. Just check out the relatively simple apps that hit the top 100 charts. The world is yours with the right idea, implementation and fortune
