Very intresting.

It's only 7", lacks features like a video camera and runs only on Android 2.2 I heard. FAIL!

To each his own...for $199 I don't care that it doesn't have a camera, and 7" is actually a very good size, easy to hold with one hand. And with all the Amazon skinning on the OS, you will probably not notice that its 2.2 in the background.

for $99 you can get a chinese android 2.3 tablet with capacitative touchscreen and camera

I think the price and the fact that its Amazon will sell it.

How may housewives are going to get it? housewives make up a fair number of the casual games market.

I like ipad2.it's better.

It's a great price and Amazon will sell millions of them.

AGK will soon have Android 2.3 support, so your apps will work on it.

Paul is working hard on the Android platform. I think in about 2 weeks we should be close to it doing all that we need it to do. Then we might release some apps made with it and see how they work on user devices.

It seems the version of Android it will run has not been announced. Let's hope they go with 2.3!

In the article that Rich has linked to, it was mentioned that the fire uses Gingerbread. That would mean 2.3.

It would be silly for them not to go with 2.3. I think the Kindle Fire will actually ignite the competition against the iPad and will sell a ton.
Better get my app done so I can release on there as quickly as possible.

You mean you can get a very poor tablet with a temperamental touchscreen, low resolution camera, and a plethora of useless built-in apps that all do the same thing.

Forgot to mention falls apart the first time you try to use it.

if you get one with a resistive touchscreen, then yes it will be "temperamental". & you can simply ignore the useless apps

Sell a ton, maybe! If the cheap Android users will jump the bandwagon. Competition? Definately not! It isn't 10", it doesn't have a camera for video chats, the battery time is about 4 hours. What else? This is no competition, no matter how many people wish it would be. I yet have to see a tablet where you can scroll, touch, drag as smooth as on an IPad. It is simply a different league. Imo the android tablet that came close to it was the Archos 101. Till apple released the IPad2.

I have one pre ordered... when I get it I"m willing to write a review of it, but it will be my first tablet...

From a developers point of view, low cost tablets should be celebrated as it means more customers for you, and if you our AppGameKit apps are available though it's built-in store, even better I am keen to get a statistic on the main AppGameKit page showing how many 'potential' users your AppGameKit can reach when you develop with our language. We want this number to grow very quickly and reach lofty heights!
