Starting in approx 1 day is LUDUM DARE 48 #21
Basically, it is a rapid game making competition, you guys should use AppGameKit to make something awesome for it. I'm entering and I can be found on the ludum dare IRC as linux_mage or black_mage

http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/

It seems that there are a lot of smart people who I will be able to learn a lot from. I hope to see some of you there

Hi Guys,

I know it's cruel to throw you a competition only four days after we launch AppGameKit, and a comp that only lasts 48 hours at that. Since the competition does not have any prizes as such, in addition to the kudos of completing a game and showing the world, if you mention in your entry that it was created in AppGameKit and use the AppGameKit logo found here (http://www.appgamekit.com/documentation/distribution.html), if you win a Gold, Silver or Bronze badge in LUDUM DARE 48 #21, we will refund you your purchase of AppGameKit and mention your achievement in the next newsletter.

I am a great fan of 24 and 48 hour game making competitions as it gives me the perfect excuse to stay up all night, eat pizza, drink coke and go absolutely code nuts on a game idea.

To everyone brave enough to enter, good luck and may AppGameKit be with you, always.

Excellent idea Lee, this will no doubt give people an incentive to go for it now

OK when can I start working on this? Has it already begun?

EDIT: Sorry, just saw the countdown timer on your website.

Well, that's a bummer. I'm still waiting for my AGK. W??????????.
Good luck to all you guyz n girls, though.

I'll take a shot at entering this and not just because of Lee's generous offer.

Well, that's a bummer. I'm still waiting for my AGK. W??????????.

I know what you mean. I had exams all of this week and had to resist the temptation of downloading and installing AGK. I could have started using it on Monday but had to wait until Friday. It was a very long week...

Hmmm, refunded AppGameKit costs. I like the idea of that! lol, I can spend the money of more TGC products! I may just enter now!

These competions are great preparation for what it can be like in industry. It all sounds fun till you have to do it for work

What happens if you finished a game already?
Posted: 19th Aug 2011 19:31
The rules are that you can't start until the official start time, and you have to make the game, and any assets used in it during the 48 hour period.

You can use assets from online sources, but ONLY if you are freely allowed to based on the creator's license.

I suspect they don't reveal the Theme of the compo until the timer runs out, so it's going to be a mad dash to an idea, then slamming it together.

SOUNDS LIKE A BLAST!!!

I wont be able to devote the whole 48 hours to it, but I'm in!

Here are the rules of the competition

I'm not sure if you are allowed to use in game graphics from other sources. It does not explicitly state this. I am going to be creating all of the graphics myself from scratch

Graphics I can do somewhat decent enough. Music I'm going to have to download something from somewhere.

Well, this certainly does sound fun and Lee's offer is a pretty nice intensive too. Count me in!

Cheers.

I doubt I'll have time over the next 48 hours working late all weekend on some CAD work but I'll help anyone who mails me if I have time!

Sadly, we have to do it solo according to the rules.

Cheers.

For the Compo part you have to do it solo.

For the Jam, you can get help.

Shame, Oh well, I'll have to try to find time for my own entry then!

This sounds realy fun! I just have one question, am I allowed to use models from the TGC modelpacks, to make my sprites for the game?

One person said yes on the IRC channel, but I don't know if they were serious, or if they had the authority to say so.

The Theme is : ESCAPE
