Hello all,
MakeHuman, as many should know, makes a human and exports in .obj. After exporting, I use blender to convert the .obj files into .x. What is happening (besides the random tooth in the middle of the human :/) is it looks as if there aren't any textures on the object. It's 100% black, almost as if the vertices were inverted or something. Is there a light command that will brighten it up a bit? Am I missing the textures? If so, where can they be found? How can I fix that random tooth?

Thanks in advance (it IS a lot of questions... ),
Jim

your probably missing the textures or you set the ambient light to 0. if your missing the textures,I don't know what to tell ya except find them, and if you set the ambient light to 0,don't,or set ambient light 100 or something like that. I think the ambient light is at default 75 or 50,not sure though.

Isn't that mesh something like 11k polygons? If that's the case then the model is useless for real time use.

Are you animating the model? It's a bit pointless to go through all the trouble if you're not animating it. You could just as easily use Dark Matter models. If you are going to animate it, your best bet would be to buy Milkshape, import it into Milkshape, animate it, and export it to .x.

Another reason it could be black is becuase of a shader when your gpu doesn't support the ps version needed for that shader.

Thanks everyone. I'm not using any shaders, so that kind of eliminates that... and it is around 11K I think... *checks* yes, it is around that

Where could I find the textures in makehuman? If I can't use them, how do other people use make human?

You might get a better response in the "3D Chat" forum

I think black textures are often due to not setting setting something in your model package like emmisive/diffuse setting on the material or sum such. It may have got lost in the conversion process.

You could try...

set object light objNum, 0

to turn off lighting/shading on the object so you can see if the textures are there.

thanks gatorhex, I'll repost there.

There's a topic about exporting from blender to DBP at the top of the 3D Chat forum or click this link below.
