i just reformatted my computer last week and i just reinstalled my copy of DB Pro that i have, and when i try to test my game it says

DBPCompiler.exe

DBPCompiler.exe has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

what can i do to fix this?

P.S. it does it on anything i try i can just put

print "Hello"
wait key

or anything simple like that and it still does it

Could it possibly be a problem with DirectX? I know Darkbasic is super picky about that, and Ive had problems with it before, so you might wanna check that.

Did you make sure that all relevant updates to your operating system have been applied? That sounds alot like the underlying code to me.

I'm sure you've already checked, but sometimes your version of DirectX is right (9.0c) but the release date is off. I've had this problem before. Just thought you might want to check it out, is all. Cheers!

@ Tech: I don't know, if it's possible, but I use "Daemon-Tools" for my virtual drives and when I install it (the setup.exe) the readme-info tells me something about problems when a debugger is used for debugging programms (if I remember right)!
I allways thought it's only important for "Visual-Studio" etc., but I also can't debug my DB-Pro-Porgramms (I get a "Just-In-Time-Debugger"-Visual-Studio-Message asking me, if I want to start a new Instance of Visual-Studio to debug "DBPCompiler.exe")! (I haven't tried yet to uninstall "Daemon-Tools", cause I use it often and I was able to solve my problem so far without the Debug-Mode!) Maybe it helps you, maybe not?!

crashing on debug?

I found that debug / step through modes do not work in "full screen exclusive" mode. If it doesn't compile at all (as in, with pressing F5) then take a backup of yur projects folder, and do a full uninstall, reboot, then reinstall. Even better if you reinstall to a different path...

...might work

edit: I can also tell you, that daemon tools should not cause any problems.

Do you have the newes DarkBasic updates?
Sounds stupid, but mine worked well using downgrading and upgrading again if you have newest updates. Otherwise, just update.

Hope it helped,

Jeff

There are links on the DBPro product page, or if you check the top of the Bug forum, you'll see a thread for all update details - that contains links to all of the updates.
