I'm posting this here as not everyone stops by the Andromedus forum regularly to find out what's going on.

- Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be working on (and hopefully completing) GUI Media Pack 1. This is a free add-on to GUI Studio which will extend the existing media library. So far I have been concentrating on RPG styled elements, like medieval coins, weapon icons, celtic tiles, compasses, clocks, jewels and general gadgets (sliders, knobs, dials, healthbars etc.) made from natural materials like wood and stone. If anyone (either existing or potential users) has any suggestions or requests for particular GUI items or styles, please let me know either here, or at http://www.andromedus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=136), and I'll see what I can do about adding them into this first pack.

-Secondly, for users who may still be using an early version, just letting you know that GUI Studio is now upto v1.05b, which has many new features that the original doesn't. The full update log and installation info can be found at http://www.andromedus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=135

Thanks.

<edit 4th August 2007>

The final version 1.05 is now available from the website. GUI Media1 is also now complete, and is available for download. I am currently working on v1.06, which I hope to release sometime this month.

Nice

I think you should create a pack for stamp-collecting games. They are massively popular (MMOSCG) and the effort will be worth while.

Seriously though, it will make the Studio even better.

Yeah, great idea! I'm trying to get hold of tickets to the UK MMOSCG conference, but I'm pretty sure it's sold out already. Gonna be awesome.

Great.
Would like a more modern compass style too, if possible.

Very cool Ric, very cool indeed. Do you have any idea how much you will be charging for the Media packs? Also, is this for sale through TGC or just your site?

One last question, I changed the links to all of my images because you and Zoto had problems accessing them. Are they working ok now?

Hi Alquerian. Your links work fine now and I must say Terrainscape looks very nice - you've clearly put a lot into it already.

The first media pack will be free for all users of GUI Studio. If there is enough interest, I may produce more packs - I don't know about price, but definitely low - think a couple of pints of beer kind of money.

At the moment GUI Studio is only available through Andromedus Software - that may change soon, but I can't say more than that at the moment.

Ric,

Looking forward to the new pack, watched the videos today and I think I might finally get this.

Not sure if you are looking for additional pieces, but here is one I just made you can include if you so choose.

Hi,

Why your product is not selled in the game creators website as a plug in?
Posted: 13th Jul 2007 16:51
It might happen - we have talked. I think they are very busy though at the moment with their own products.

Please don't forget the listbox object

Just sent you an email Ric, your downloads link in that forum post for the latest version is broken here (loads a blank page) 0_o

[edit] It works in FireFox, but doesn't in IE7.

Thanks LiT - I have sent you a direct link to v1.05. I'm hoping that the problem is just a temporary issue - although if I get more reports of difficulties viewing pages on the website, I'll have to consider changing my web host.

Just got your email. I don't think it is really a web problem. I just tried again 3 times and it loads instantly and properly in FireFox and just loads a blank page everytime in IE7. 0_o

[edit] I got the update last night with FireFox

Rik are you planning to release a DarkGDK or DarkGDK.NET verison?
Posted: 14th Aug 2007 2:47
I'm afraid I don't know much about darkGDK - is it like a DBPro library for c++? I suppose in theory it would be possible - but I wouldn't be able to do it myself as I don't know enough about c++. Someone would need to be willing to translate the GUI Functions file (which contains the loading routine for the interface elements as well as the functions which allow you to interact with them - all in all about 2500 lines of dbpro code) into c++.
Posted: 14th Aug 2007 13:07
Well if you made the program in dbp you will find that C++ is more flexible, faster, pseudo-OO, and more organized! DarkGDK is the dark engine in C++ (the difference is sintax related e.g dbMakeCamera(1), currently both have the same version of the engine.
Posted: 14th Aug 2007 15:35
Ok. Basically, then, if anyone wants to have GUI Studio working with DarkGDK, then they would need to make an importer - which as far as I can tell would just be a case of translating the dbpro importer into c++. I guess it depends on how desperate they are to have GUI Studio work with DarkGDK!
